Wood Stove Installation & Renovations

A wood stove is only as good as the work around it. I install stoves, inserts and furnaces, then build the venting, hearth and shielding to match, all set to the manufacturer's specs and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) B365-10 installation code. Decades of renovation experience sit behind every job. Tell me what you're putting in.

Hearths, Shielding & Clearances

Getting a stove to sit safely takes more than the right pad underneath it. The hearth, the wall and ceiling shielding and the clearances all have to match your appliance and meet code, and I build them to do exactly that. It's detailed work, and it's where the renovation years really show. Read more about how I got here.

Wood Stoves, Inserts & Furnaces

A good install is what stands between a new stove and a system that actually performs. I fit wood stoves, inserts, pellet appliances and furnaces, set the clearances and run the venting, all matched to your appliance and built to code. Done right the first time, it lasts. Send me the details and we'll get started.

How Cozy Can Help

The install is rarely just the stove. It's the venting, the hearth, the shielding and the connections that make the whole thing work. Here's the contracting and installation work I cover.

Wood Stove Installs

A new stove only heats the way it should when it's installed right. I set the clearances, make the connections and match everything to the manufacturer's specs so it runs safely from the first fire.

Inserts & Furnaces

Looking at an insert or a wood furnace instead of a freestanding stove? I install both, sizing and venting each one to your home so it heats efficiently and ties in cleanly.

Flue & Chimney Pipes

Good venting is the difference between a stove that draws and one that smokes. I fit double wall stove pipe and insulated class A chimney pipe, matched to the appliance and the run.

Chimney Liners

Relining an existing chimney for a wood stove takes the right materials and a proper fit. I install and replace stainless steel liners so the flue is sound and the draft stays strong.

Hearths & Shielding

Heat protection is part of every safe install. I lay hearths and ember pads and fit wall and ceiling shielding to spec, giving the appliance the clearances it needs to sit right in the room.

Flashing & Venting

The roof penetration is where a lot of installs go wrong. I flash and seal where the chimney exits, then finish the venting so the system draws cleanly and the roof stays watertight.

FREE

Every install and service call starts with a free written estimate, so you know the full cost before any work begins.

$85

My flat hourly labour rate, the same whether I'm fitting a stove, running flue pipe or building a hearth.

$100

First-hour call-out for chimney, flue pipe cleaning and stove maintenance, with the $85 hourly rate after that.

+KM

Mileage is added for addresses outside Clearwater, covering Barriere, Little Fort, Blue River and the rest of the valley.

What the Work Costs

I keep pricing simple. Every install and service call starts with a free estimate, then it's a flat hourly rate from there. Maintenance has a set call-out fee, and mileage gets added for addresses beyond Clearwater.

Why Choose Cozy Contracting

Hiring me means one person on the whole job. If a task falls outside my domain, like electrical or masonry work, I will tell you and bring in the right trade, so there is no guessing who did what. I bring the WETT training and the renovation background to every install, and I stand behind the work because my name is on it.
